The next recruit school for Department of Public Safety trainees starts March 6 in Austin.
The application deadline for Texas residents in Sept. 16; and Sept 9 for out-of-state applicants.

Graduates are initially assigned as uniformed officers in one of several services. After gaining experience, troopers can compete for a variety of assignments in the Texas Highway Patrol, Criminal Law Enforcement, Driver License, Administration and Texas Ranger divisions.
Applicants must be U.S. citizen, at least 20 years old and have completed 90 hours of college credit. Law enforcement, jailer or military experience may be used toward fulfilling the college requirement.
Each applicant’s background will be carefully scrutinized, including prior criminal history. They will also be required to submit a polygraph examination.

HEB announces recall of ground beef
HEB announced a voluntary recall of Flanders frozen ground beef patties this week.
HEB was notified by Flanders Provision Company that they are implementing a national voluntary recall of its Flanders frozen raw ground beef patties with guidance from the United States Department of Agriculture. The product may be contaminated with E. Coli.
Five-pound boxes of Flanders frozen ground beef patties (UPC code 02032300516) with production codes 05052, 05053, 05055, 05060, 05061, 05062, 05066 or 05069 are included in the recall. HEB is proactively requesting customers who have purchased this product to return it for a full refund.
There have been no known reported illnesses, and no other beef products are included in this recall.
